Details about this class
Welcome to Intro to Psychology 202A! I am thrilled to be your instructor and excited to get to know you all through this fascinating class. Together we'll explore identifying psychological, social, cultural, and biological factors that influence behavior and mental processes. You'll learn how to apply key theories and concepts in psychology. We'll evaluate claims about psychological phenomena and human behavior through the use of empirical evidence. And lastly, you'll be able demonstrate knowledge about the ways psychological science and practices are contextualized by ethical standards and sociocultural factors.
Here are the details for our course:
Our course is meeting remotely and meets two times per week on Zoom (Mon and Wed 12:00 PM-1:50 PM). Attendance is factored into your grade and participation is the best way to get the most out of the class. That said, if something comes up and you cannot make it to class, there will be opportunities to earn extra credit points to make up for the missed class.
The class will include weekly readings and weekly assignments. In class, you can expect to experience a combination of lecture and small group activities to discuss the concepts and practice the related skills.
Technology
Our class will meet in real time but remotely. We will be meeting together on Zoom from 12:00 PM to 1:50pm every Monday and Wednesday during the term. The college will be closed on September 1st.
You will need access to D2L to log into class and interact with class materials during our meetings. This means that you'll need a stable internet connection to communicate with me and other classmates, both during class and outside of class time. You’ll also need to be in a setting where you can have your camera on and be seen and heard, so that you can fully participate in class. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or challenges related to D2L or any other tech-related questions!
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
Students with disabilities
