Details about this class
- General warm-up exercises and activities
- Cardiorespiratory/aerobic fitness basics and planning for an improved cardiorespiratory system
- Monitoring intensity of cardio/aerobic exercise via three methods (heart rate, RPE, and Talk Test)
- Muscular fitness basics, including information about muscular strength and muscular endurance
- Planning for muscular fitness improvements through a safe and effective resistance training program
- Maintaining flexibility and back health for life
- Planning a complete fitness program as part of a total life wellness program
Upon completion of the class students should be able to:
- Apply knowledge of fitness and wellness principles when selecting exercises, setting fitness goals, and participating in regular physical activities.
- Perform regular cardiorespiratory, muscle fitness, and flexibility exercise sessions.
- Design a fitness program around personal fitness and wellness goals.
- Reflect upon experiences and customize a fitness program to ensure safe and effective exercise programming.
