Details about this class

Class delivery: This class will be taught remotely using Zoom, with live lessons occurring at the times listed for this course in the 不良研究所 schedule of classes. If you sign up for the course, you are expected to attend these live Zoom lessons. Class sessions will be a mix of lecture and collaborative work. Students are encouraged to interact with the instructor and their fellow students during class time. Lessons will be recorded and available in D2L for later reference by students who happen to miss a class session, but this will not be a primary way to access the course.

Class sessions will be a mix of lecture and collaborative work. Students are encouraged to interact with the instructor and their fellow students during class time. Throughout the course, we will learn to type in LaTeX. A free website will be introduced and several templates will be provided to aid in your learning of this typesetting language. By the end of the term, students will write a paper on a linear algebra topic of their choice. This paper will be written entirely in LaTeX.

Moreover, a website has been constructed for this course. You can find that site here.

Daily schedule: Each day will look something like this.

Prior to class

  1. Complete the Quiz (if assigned).
  2. Turn in the Assignment (if assigned).

During class

  1. We will lecture on the material. During lecture, please ask questions!

After class

  1. Rewrite your notes in your Reference Book (we'll talk about this).
  2. Do the corresponding HW exercises (in the textbook).

Virtually Proctored Exams: Proctored exams are one of many assessment tools used in MTH to assess student learning. Our class will be participating in a Virtual Proctoring Pilot that is being run in collaboration with Math, Online Learning, and the Testing Center. The exams in this class will be proctored virtually in Zoom with me, your instructor, on the following dates and times:

  • Midterm Exam on Monday, July 14, 6:00pm - 8:50pm on Zoom (check-in begins at 5:30pm)
  • Final Exam on Wednesday, August 13, 6:00pm - 8:50pm on Zoom (check-in begins at 5:30pm)

Review the  for important information and requirements. Please make every concerted effort to attend the scheduled virtually proctored exams. If you do not meet the requirements for virtually proctored exams, prefer to take your exams in-person, and/or have an unavoidable scheduling conflict, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss alternative arrangements. With adequate notice, alternative testing arrangements can be made for virtual or in-person proctoring at a testing center. Scheduling appointments with a testing center is the responsibility of the student, as well as paying any associated fees with using a non-不良研究所 testing center.

If you have accommodations through Accessible Ed & Disability Resources at 不良研究所, please contact me so we can discuss your specific accommodations and how I can best support you.

If you have any questions or concerns about virtually proctored exams, please feel free to contact me.

*Virtual proctoring means having your exam proctored by an approved proctor on Zoom on a specific day and time.

**In-person proctoring means having your exam proctored by an approved proctor at an in-person testing facility on a specific day and time.
