Details about this class
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of designing, querying and developing applications based on relational database managment systems (RDBMS).
The relational model of data storage and retrieval is one of the most mature and popular models in use today. Software applications in industry are developed using a wide range of languages and frameworks.
One thing these systems frequently have in common is reliance on a relational database. This means that designing, querying and maintaining relational databases properly directly impacts the success of these applications.
Also, having a solid understanding of RDBMS will give you a head-start walking into a job where you work with an rbdms, because they all have the fundamentals in common!
This course will cover the fundamentals of rdbms and the applications that use them. We'll look at the relationship model, and learn how to apply it from the ground up in commond business scenarios to work from business requirements, identify entities and implement entities as database tables.
