Details about this class

Greetings!  Thank you for taking a moment to read more about CG 100!  I just love teaching this class and I think it's one of the most important courses offered at 不良研究所.  Did you know that students who complete this class actually have higher success rates at 不良研究所?  It's true!  I often describe it as "Driver's Ed for College", where you learn the rules of the road here at 不良研究所.  Not only that, this class includes topics that can help you create the life that you want beyond college. I often have students contact me years after taking the course to tell me what a positive impact the class had on their lives--it's amazing!  I hope you register in the class, but if you need more information to make your decision, I've listed some additional details about course expectations and workload below and I've posted a   If you have additional questions, feel free to send me an email. I look forward to "meeting" you online soon!

Best,
Tammy Dowd Shearer

HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Time Commitment: You'll want to plan to log in at least 3 times a week to work on the modules, check email, and participate in discussions. You'll probably spend approximately 6-9 hours per week completing your readings and assignments/discussions/quizzes.
  • Weekly Work:  There are assigned readings and a related quiz (10 T/F and multiple choice questions) every week. Additionally, there is a class discussion and a homework assignment almost every week.
  • Due Dates:  Since this is a college survival and success course, I believe we should use this class to practice successful academic habits. One of the most critical successful academic habits I want you to develop is to always turn in your assignments by their due dates. However, I also understand that things sometimes happen, so I am flexible with students who communicate with me.
  • First Week Attendance:  In an online format, the only way I can ensure you are actually "attending" my class is by the work you submit. In order to verify attendance the first week, each student must complete the Quiz, Assignment, and Discussion posts in Week 1. Any student who does not complete all three of these activities by the first Friday of the term will be dropped from the course.

Technology

This is a fully online course, no class meetings are required.

You need to know how to email, download and upload documents, complete online forms, and comment in electronic discussion boards.

You will need some type of word processing program in order to submit certain assignments. The accepted document formats are .doc, .docx,  or .pdf.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
