Details about this class
This is a fully developed asynchronous online course. The online class follows a similar format as an online/remote class, only there is no scheduled class meeting. Students are expected to complete the coursework each week at a time that is convenient for them. Watch this which describes the types of classes (modalities) and time commitment for classes.
This course weaves together online lectures, film/ videos, weekly discussion boards, and interactive student research assignments, which makes the class richer and fun for students. Topics include norm violations, food insecurity, protest songs, kinship diagrams, globalization and more.
* Summer term students will write two short papers from the topic list above.
