Details about this class

  • This is a Remote course and as such, has weekly Zoom meetings.
  • The learning is self paced but assignments will be due weekly.
  • You will be able to email questions to your instructor or tutor, or post them on a Q&A discussion forum.
  • You will follow written and video instructions to create AutoCAD drawings.
  • No book is required, and all lerning materials are provided.

Technology

  • In this course, you will continue to learn the Windows version of AutoCAD to create architectural drawings
  • AutoCAD is free to students through the Autodesk Education portal.
  • Instructions for software installation will be provided on the first day of class.
  • There is no need to install the software before class begins.
  • Make sure your computer meets the system requirements to run the software. A Chromebook won't do.
  • Google search: "system requirements for AutoCAD 2025" to see if your computer meets them.
  • If you own a Mac, you can install AutoCAD for Mac (it is a little different from the Windows version). Or, even better, install the Windows version using Parallels software. Why? because instructional videos are created using the Windows version and it looks different.
  • If you are going to purchase a computer for school, the Architecture program recommends that you buy a Windows based machine over a Mac because you'll need to learn Autodesk Revit and it does not exist for the Mac.  However, you can alternatively install Parallels on your Mac to run any Windows based software.
  • In addition to system requirements for AutoCAD, your computer should be equipped with a web cam, microphone, speakers and a good WiFi connection.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
