Details about this class
This is a really interesting and fun class and I look forward to 'meeting' you all! We will learn a range of information in this course including them major theoretical perspectives in psychology, the brain and nervous system, consciousness, sensation and perception, memory, language, and intelligence.
This class will be fully online with no synchronous meetings! Each week will follow a similar setup with readings, supplemental materials, an online discussion to look deeper at a concept, a quiz and a reflective writing assignment. While I will not see you in a weekly "lecture", I am very involved in the class, available to meet on Zoom if you need help and respond to emails quickly.
We will be using Lumen Waymaker "Introduction to Psychology" as our textbook, and this is pre-loaded in our D2L course shell, so there is nothing additional you need to do. This resource is listed on the bookstore site and is automatically included in your registration fee for the course -- nothing more to purchase! The level of communication is high; I send out regular reminders/updates, and I respond to student emails 7 days a week. As long as you stay connected and keep up, you'll do great!
Take a look at a (note - the class that this syllabus was for was in person, so does not include weekly online discussions) and please feel free to reach if you have questions!
Best,
Shawna
