Details about this class

This course was recently revamped, so that the Textbook publisher’s companion access code (MyLab) is no longer required!

We will be utilizing this textbook:

  • Susan Turley. Medical Language: Immerse Yourself, 5th Ed, Pearson Education, Inc., 2019, Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. (ISBN-10. 0134988396)

This course is entirely online and is considered asynchronous. No campus visits are required and there are no scheduled meeting times (no ZOOM sessions) for the course. All of the lectures are prerecorded and students are given one week to complete most assignments. We will cover all 15 chapters of the textbook, making this a content heavy course with strict deadlines to space the content appropriately.

Technology

There is a pronunciation activity in the course which requires the use of a microphone for the computer. (Most computers after ~2008 often come with this preinstalled). Speakers are required for the listening portions of the course.

I recommend not purchasing VitalSource through the 不良研究所 Bookstore, as you may experience issues accessing the online eText. Please purchase the physical textbook or the Redbook option for the eText if purchasing through the 不良研究所 Bookstore. You can also purchase directly through Pearson or other retailers, like Amazon, etc.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
