Details about this class

Welcome to JPN 203 at 不良研究所!

JPN203 continues the work of first year Japanese, reviews and expands vocabulary and structure for the purpose of active communication. It emphasizes effective communicative skills in written and spoken language including listening, speaking, reading, writing, culture, pronunciation, and Kanji characters. Prerequisites: JPN 202 or instructor permission. Audit available.

In this 5-credit course, you will attend class via Zoom twice per week (Tuesday & Thursday 4:00PM – 6:20 PM). Students should spend approximately 2 hours outside of class for every credit hour in order to be successful, so you will be expected to study and complete activities and assignments outside of class accordingly.

Required Materials:

  • Textbook: Genki II -  An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese  (Third Edition)
  • Workbook: Genki II -  An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese  (Third Edition)

Attendance is required for this course. You are allowed three no-questions-asked absences over the course of the term. For each class if you miss over those three days, your course grade will be affected.

Students will interact with each other and participate in learning activities both inside and outside of class utilizing technology to build a supportive learning community. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact me at chiho.murphy@pcc.edu

Technology

Required technology for this remote course includes a computer with a reliable internet connection, microphone, and webcam. D2L (Desire2Learn) and Zoom will be key learning platforms among other online applications. During our speaking and listening skills practice, it is important that you turn your webcam on to work together as a class and small group.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
