Details about this class

Hello!

This class is completely online with no synchronous meetings.  We use an OER textbook- that stands for Open Educational Resource, which means it is online and free.

Each week there is a Module to complete, looking at ourselves as listeners, and in various contexts and relationships.  For each Module there is a Discussion (due Fridays) and a Listening Log Journal (due Saturdays) every week- to track our listening behaviors and see what we can learn about ourselves.

Then, there are 3 Homework Assignments due throughout the term (about every 3 weeks).
And we conclude the class with a research paper analyzing our listening habits and behaviors.

Some of the listening contexts include interpersonal relationships, education, workplace, and appreciative listening to music or nature.  We focus on types of listening and how we can improve.  I love teaching this class as it is so relevant to our everyday lives and relationships.
