Details about this class

We are happy to be able to offer this "online, no scheduled meetings" chemistry course, meaning that all course components (lectures, assignments, quizzes, final exam) are online through D2, with homework and lab done through separate web sites. You will be able to move through the course on your own schedule as long as you complete the work by the due date each week. It's a complex course, so organizational skills, close reading and attention to detail are essential!

This 5-credit course includes both lecture and lab, so it’s like two courses in one. It requires about 15-20 hours each week since it is equivalent to an on-campus chemistry course. And I’m here to help every step of the way!

You’ll do the labs at home with a purchased lab kit. It’s expensive ($200+), but it’s the only way we can offer a valid, accredited chemistry course online – and it’s pretty fun! You will post 3 selfies doing the experiment each week. I’ll send a class email out to registered students the week before the class opens with all the ordering information as well as the course syllabus.

Homework will be completed via the OWLv2 web site provided by the textbook publisher, Cengage. The OWL access code includes a digital textbook (no need to buy a hard copy of the textbook). OWL access may be purchased through the Bookstore or directly from Cengage. If purchased through Cengage, it includes a short trial period before you must pay.
