Details about this class
For this LIVE remote math class (live instruction on the computer) the majority of classwork is done in Zoom Live Classes. Assignments are based on what is covered during the class time. There will be a midterm and a final. As well, we will use GED.com and Flash to explore the use of word problems for the types of test questions that may be encountered for online testing modalities. Skill building in test taking is an essential part of a student's college classes. ALEKS placement testing for college courses, CASAS state testing, and GED testing all incorporate this format.
What this class is not: A cohort (students are welcome to join any quarter) OR Online (online classes do not have live instruction)
All work such as assignments, announcements, etc. is accessed via Google Docs, D2L, Zoom videos. All live remote classes are recorded.
Live Classes:
Tuesdays and Thursdays are live classes via Zoom and accessed from D2L and emailed links. These are for those who would like to participate in a live remote class setting. All classes will be recorded and available to the student through D2L. The times for remote class will be 6:00pm - 8:50pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The instructor will be available 1/2 hour before class (5:30pm - 6:00pm) and after class until 9:00pm for student questions, homework help, etc.
Meeting with Students:
There will be 1-to-1 tutoring/homework help sessions available each week by appointment only. These are not required but available weekly.
Week 4 on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, there will be a 1-to-1 conference call between the student and instructor, times to be announced.
Access to the class content will be available through your D2L on the Friday (28 March 2025) before our first class meeting on Tuesday, 1 April 2025. Announcement emails will be sent throughout the week before class begins.
